WCHR announces that Andy Howarth will retire from his position as Director of Development effective December 1, following more than 25 years with the organization.

During his tenure, Andy provided leadership and made significant contributions to many of WCHR’s affordable-housing and community-development initiatives. Notable projects include the development and completion of Heywood Wakefield Commons, a 78-unit assisted-living facility, and WCHR’s ongoing effort to redevelop the former hotel on Oriol Drive as permanent supportive and senior housing.

“My years at WCHR have been the highlight of my long career,” Andy said. “I am deeply grateful to the colleagues, partners, residents, and communities I have had the privilege to work with over the years. I am proud of what we have accomplished together, and I have great confidence in WCHR’s talented team as it continues its important work.” Andy adds, “Although I am retiring from my full-time position at WCHR, I plan to continue being involved in the field where I’ve spent my life, doing consulting and independent projects.”

WCHR appreciates Andy’s many years of service and his contributions to the organization’s projects. We wish him well in retirement.

WCHR’s project managers and executive leadership will continue advancing the organization’s current projects and pursuing its mission of developing and preserving affordable housing opportunities in the greater Worcester area.
